Our Fairytales concert will transport you to enchanted places, presenting timeless stories with magical creatures and extraordinary events.

Debussy’s "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" tells the story of a faun who awakens from a nap and falls madly in love with a nymph. This brief piece of music (just nine minutes long) is considered one of the first examples of modern music due to its innovative harmonies and orchestration.

In "Mother Goose," Ravel translates a collection of classical literature, including "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Fairy Garden," into music. Ravel is also the composer of our closing piece. Our beloved pianist Alexandria Le will join the HSO to perform Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major.
